01 About me

From physics to apps

I have always been drawn to problems rather than numbers. As a kid I loved maths – not the arithmetic (that is what computers are for), but the moment you face a problem armed with a handful of simple rules. It taught me something I still use every day: any complex task can be broken into smaller pieces and solved as the sum of simpler ones.

That curiosity took me to physics at the University of Pisa, where I worked on quantum random walks and on dipole traps for Bose-Einstein condensates – the stuff qubits are made of. Physics taught me to understand a phenomenon well enough to reproduce it, and then to turn it into something new.

Software is where it all came together. After seven years in consulting at Accenture I spent almost a decade as a freelance developer, building apps for Android and iOS, and then worked as Tech Leader at DS Group. Today I am a Managing Consultant at Capgemini.

I still believe a good app is born from a creative idea – and I still build my own, because frankly it is fun.
